Frequently Asked Questions

New here—where do I start?

Start with our Reformer Intro or a beginner-friendly Mat class. If you’re unsure, just ask — we’re happy to guide you.

What’s the difference between Reformer and Mat Pilates?

Reformer Pilates uses a spring-based machine that provides both resistance and support. Mat Pilates uses bodyweight and small props, with a focus on control, stability, and core strength. Both complement each other beautifully.

Do I need experience to join?

No. Many of our classes are beginner-friendly, and all levels are clearly labelled so you know what to expect.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable you can move in. Grip socks are required for all Reformer classes for safety and hygiene. For Mat classes, barefoot or regular socks are both welcome.

Do I need to bring anything?

No — everything is provided.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before class. This helps us keep the space calm and allows for a smooth transition between sessions.

Do you have lockers?

Yes — lockers are available for your belongings during class.

Can I join if I have an injury?

In many cases, yes. Please let your teacher know before class, and if you’re unsure, we recommend checking with your doctor or physiotherapist first.

How often should I practise?

2–3 times per week is a great rhythm, but even once a week can make a noticeable difference.

Can I do Reformer during pregnancy?

This depends on your experience and stage of pregnancy. Please contact us before booking so we can guide you safely and suggest the most appropriate classes.

Can I use my Mat class pack for Yoga?

Yes. Mat class packs can be used for Yoga classes, and Yoga class packs can be used for Mat classes, allowing you to move between both spaces with ease.

Where do the Yoga classes take place?

All Yoga classes take place at The Vinyasa People.

What’s the difference between The Pilates People and The Vinyasa People?

The Pilates People is our dedicated Pilates space, with one room for Reformer and one for Mat and strength-based classes. The Vinyasa People is our Yoga studio, where we offer Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, and Mysore-style Ashtanga. Both spaces are part of the same family.

Do members receive any additional benefits?

Yes. Members of The Vinyasa People receive 20% off Reformer class packs at The Pilates People.

Do you offer memberships and class packs?

Yes. We offer flexible memberships and class packs for Reformer, Mat, and Yoga.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Classes can be cancelled within the allowed booking window. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in the class being deducted from your membership or class pack.
